After graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Brno University of Technology in 1979, he worked as a designer, and later as an independent development worker at the Electrical Installation Plant in Prague. From 1985 to 1992 he was an assistant professor at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Brno University of Technology. In 1990, he co-founded the company ELCOM, where he served as chairman of the board of directors until 2018, and he now works with the management of ELCOM as a consultant. Since 2012, he has been the president of the Electrotechnical Association of the Czech Republic. In 2014, he became a member of the board of directors of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, where he is responsible for the activities of the confederation in the area of Industry 4.0. He is a member of the Academy of Engineering of the Czech Republic, and since 2020 a member of the Council for Research, Development and Innovation of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. As part of scientific research and innovation activities, he cooperates with the faculties of electrical engineering of some Czech and Slovak universities, and he cooperates with secondary schools to popularize the Industry 4.0 concept.
