Jan Pokorný graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Charles University. In 1984, he started working at Czechoslovak Radio – first as an editor of the news shift, and from 1986 he was the moderator of the program Dobré jitro on the Praha station. After 1989, he prepared and presented the morning program of the Czechoslovak station, and he was also a parliamentary correspondent in the Federal Assembly. Since 1994, he has worked at Czech Radio’s Radiožurnál as a moderator. From March 2005 to January 2008, he was the editor-in-chief of Radiožurnál. He spent 2010 in France as a foreign correspondent for Czech Radio. In 2012, he returned to the position of editor-in-chief, and in the years 2016–2021 he was the news director of Czech Radio. Currently, he primarily moderates special radio projects and prepares podcasts on political topics.
